USS Cyclops

On March 4, 1918 the USS Cyclops headed out towards Norfolk and each time it was contacted, no distress reports were made. The last time the ship was heard from was March 5th. On March 13th the USS Cyclops was reported overdue and a search was issued to look for it or any passengers. Though this sounds like a mysterious disappearance that may be caused by one of the theories of the Bermuda Triangle but really there are several odd things about this missing ship. The last time it was seen, it was going in the opposite direction of its destination, also there was a much larger supply of coal aboard then what was requested. Many skeptics believe that the disappearance of this ship was the result of a hijack that was set up by the captain Worley himself because he was German. There are many possible reasons for the disappearance other then the phenomenon that many people believe in.

Conclusion

The Bermuda Triangle is still a mystery today. No one can settle on just one theory that explains the disappearences of hundreds of ships and aircrafts. There is not evidence that there is just one cause for the Bermuda Triangle's mysterious behavior it could be a varitey of things, like bad weather, inexperienced crew, methane gas hydrate, or the even the craziest abuduction.

Secrecy

Thomas Arthur Garner had only been in the Navy a year before he disappeared. War was still raging in the Pacific but the PBM Mariner was a plane known as the flying gas tank. The military had used the plane for many reasons and used what is now considered the Bermuda Triangle as an ideal area for training. When Garner was missing no remains we ever found and the family had no idea what had happened. If it hadnt of been for the war maybe the military would inform them and the public of the vanishing craft. It would be fifty-fives years before Garners family knew he went missing in the Triangle.

Time Travel and The Unexplainable

Among some of the theory's proposed pertaining to the Bermuda Triangle some now bring about aliens and time. Arguing the triangle is a time portal between different worlds. Others claim there could be fields and zones humans just cant grasp. How could one compare the Bermuda Triangle to a blood cell? Some believe there are spaces where time ceases and cannot be retrived. Say a ship passes as you watch and suddenly it vanishes and all connection is lost. There are no holes on earth were ships and planes suddenly. How would one go about proving it passed through a time zone? It is highly unlikely and silly to think this to be a logical answer. Yet many believe it to be true simply because we cannot find these ships and planes. The thought seems ridiculous and something out of a book.

An Unexplained Light

A recent encounter of the Bermuda Triangle happened to Paul Vance and Doug Gerdon on June 26, 2001, where they saw an unexplained light in the sky. They were sailing on Paul's boat, "Rare Form" and they had reached the triangle while sailing to the Bahamas. They looked in the sky and saw a single light that they thought was about three to five thousand feet in altitude which they thought might be an aircraft. According to Paul Vance, "A swirling mist then engulfed the light as the light slowly drifted down into the mist. The whole mass of mist then glowed a short time and then dissipated along with the light. Stars could then be seen and the sky was clear. This happened at 9:30 pm EST." He said he tried to videotape the encident but his boat was rocking to much from the sea. Also when they saw the light the engine suddenly stopped running. He talked as if the mist was a door for the light because as soon as the mist went away the light did and then his engine started running well again. This phenomenon can't seem to be explained and is just another encounter survived by someone who went through the Bermuda Triangle.

Sea Phantom Exploration

The ocean has honed Don Henry's condition and reflex's since the end of World War II. Although, an incident in 1966 had him baffled and unable to explain that day to anyone. He is a man some argue has survived the Bermuda Triangle. On a trip back from Puerto Rico, Henry endured a truly bazaar seven to ten minutes. All power on his vessel drained and even though the generators ran they produced no energy. The horizon seemed to vanish and blended the sea and sky. When he looked down the water was all foam and looked like milk. The barge couldn.t be seen but when he checked the rope was taught. Instinct made him rush to kick the throttle and suddenly slowly they escaped the fog. His experience didnt change his mentality, but allowed him to see how some could believe. Unable to explain even with his knowledge of the sea has him somewhat of a believer himself.
