The Hutchinson Effect

The Hutchinson Effect deals with theories of electromagnetism in nature. This relates to some of the problems sailors and pilots have had with there equipment while being in the Bermuda Triangle. This electromagnetism causes alternative energies to cause fogs to arise in weather where fogs should not occur. Also the triangle makes sailors equipment go haywire for no apparent reason. People put this into the supernatural category but most of the pilots and sailors who report these problems are experienced so it is hard to believe that they just got lost. John Hutchinson's research into electromagnetism has unintentionally produced every phenomena reported in the Triangle. John Hutchinson's electromagnetism testing has caused things to levatate and also caused non flammable materials to catch fire. He is an experienced scientist who has discovered how electromagnetism could have caused these problems in the Bermuda Triangle.

True vs. Magnetic

When flying or sailing one does not use a compass to point to the true north pole. Instead they know that when a compass points north it is actually pointing to magnetic north. About thirty years ago the coast guard presented a theory to explain why pilots and skippers went missing. As one moves along Earth they must compensate for the degree difference between true and magnetic north. If one forgets to make this adjustment they could find themselves miles from their targeted destination. The coast guard went on to blame this factor for the mysterious disappearances, but what they didn't account for is that if your inside the imaginary triangle the two north's are aligned for the most part with maybe a two degree difference in some locations.

This is the drawing used by the coast gaurd to justify their theory. When we look at the picture you can see that the lines match and are aligned. Every two months a plane is sent to check where the magnetic north is and if it has changed. The real line is now in a different location enabling the triangle to be somewhat directly in line.

Vincent Gaddis

Vincent Gaddis is the man who is credited with coming up with the name Bermuda Triangle. He discovered the Bermuda Triangle in February 1964. He published a story in the magazine, Argosy and came up with the phrase, the Bermuda triangle. In the two decades before he discovered the triangle, almost 1,000 people were lost and not one body was discovered. He found it wierd how only this one triangle on our earth is where ships and planes disappear without a trace. This is only one phenomanone Vincent Gaddis wrote about.

Christopher Columbus and The Bermuda Triangle

The first believed to come in contact with strange happening in The Bermuda Triangle was Christopher Columbus. According to Columbus' log book the crew spotted weird lights dancing on the horizon. The first sighting was at ten o'clock pm. Columbus and crew members thought that the light was too small to being coming from land. the crew member who first spotted the light said it look like a flame from a candle moving up and down. The second strange encounter recorded was bizarre compass bearings in the area. The light recorded by Columbus was soon disregarded as strange acitivity as it came from a native fire on land. The trick of the compass was due to a flase reading based on the movement of a star.

The Witchcraft

On December 22, 1967 Dan Burack left Miami's Yacht Marina to ship out of the coast to admire Miami's Christmas time lights. Around Bouy #7 in Miami's Harbor, less then a mile from shore Dan sent a message to RCC Miami asking for a tow. The message was recieved at 9 o'clock om and told it was not urgent, Dan's cruiser had just hit something below. The Coast Guard responded immediately and arrived at the scene at 9:19. They arrived to nothing but empty water. In nineteen minutes the boat, the men, and everything aboard disappeared without a second call for help or even flares. The Coast Guard explanded their search to fifty square miles surrounding the spot but found nothing. What makes the disappearance some mysterious is Dan Burack and experienced boatsman paided for floatation to be built into his boat, meaning that the cruiser was unsinkable. They stopped searching for the missing vessel and occupants on December 28.

The Last Aircraft Disappearance

On Decemeber 15, 2008 a Britten-Norman Islander was labeled missing. The aircraft was traveling towards the Bahamas when it went it disappeared in the area known as the Bermuda Triangle. The pilot and the eleven passengers were not found, nor was the plane. The airplance presumed to have ditched into the water and sunk. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom Government. The disappearnce was labeled as accident and fatal because there is no evidence found to what really happened.

The Bermuda Triangle Mystery

In 1981 geochemist, Richard Mclver went public with his view on the Bermuda Triangle myth. His reason behind all the disappearances is methane gas hydrate. The link between the Bermuda Triangle and methane gas hydrate are landslides that takes place north of the Bermuda Triangle on the North American continental shelf. Such landslides can bring down large boulders that rupture the layer of gas hydrate beneath the sea floor. This frees the gas beneath the hydrate cap and also frees the methane that is within the hydrate itself. When a methane gas pocket ruptures it sends gas to the surface of the water. If a ship gets caught in the is surge of gas it can be taken down in moments because the water becomes less dense causing the ship to sink.
