The Theory of Oceanic Flatulence

Many people believe in different theories of what the phenomenon in the Atlantic Ocean, called the Bermuda Triangle, is all about. One theory people have set their minds on is often called oceanic flatulence. This theory explains that there is methane gas trapped under the ocean floor in this area and when it is released, the density of the ocean water is reduced which would cause a ship above this to sink and could possibly cause a plane to ignite on fire. Although to many people (including several of my peers) see this as a logical explanation, there is no specific evidence proving this. Also, there are several facts that could help disprove this theory such as that the Bermuda Triangle is not the area with the largest concentration of methane gas. Another would be that several drilling companies have accidentally drilled into areas containing methane gas but had enough time to make a distress call before the ships sank. The theory of oceanic flatulence may seem reasonable and scientific but when a theory lacks evidence proving it and has facts showing that it probably isn't true, it most likely should not be taken seriously.
